Back then my parents didn't monitor me but the truth is there was little need as I wasn't going on any fishy sites back then. I'm not sure how bad it is now but I can see it being pretty concerning now when kids are going to different inappropriate websites. These days I think the internet has become a lot more of a dangerous place for youngsters given so much easier access to inappropriate sites and the people interacting online have become a lot more cold, trollish, and heartless compared to 13 years ago. It was very hard for me to wander off to other inappropriate sites as the web was more rigid back then so whatever I searched that interested me, I stuck to. Back then I saw a lot of inappropriate stuff on but it was more playful and good-spirited. Yeah the internet is so different now compared to when I was 9. The worst I did was download a couple songs off LimeWire. ![]() Not being rude or anything to the user, but now I just don't think it's acceptable. To be honest, I don't think it's appropriate for a 9 year old to have a registered account on a public forum anyway. Forums are much easier targets, because they are smaller communities. ![]() All it takes is for someone to make a complaint about it and it can easily happen. Forums can be taken down, if they are found to have intentionally infringed the COPPA laws.
